Maybe it’s my past as political operative of a somewhat dark nature that compels me to write this piece. Or, maybe it’s because I simply love pointing out some of the nastier things – politically speaking, and no matter how idiotic they may be – that I come across. Hell, more than likely it’s somewhat of an odd and uneasy combination of the two, but for whatever the reason, here goes.
Facebook, as everyone knows, can be employed for both fun as well as a way to get your message out. From individuals to businesses to politicians, Facebook is used and abused. It can be informative and a tad dangerous – if not exactly a tool for the idiotic.
A case in point from the political realm is the noxious, Fraudulent Facebook Page, “Nicolee Ambrose: Fraudulent Fraulein,” that (as of this writing) continues to disgrace Facebook’s bandwidth.
Nicolee Ambrose, as many of you may know, is the Chairman Emeritus of the National Federation of Young Republicans. Ms. Ambrose is also running against former MD GOP Chairman Audrey Scott to be the next Maryland National Committeewoman. And, yes, Nicolee Ambrose also happens to be a good friend of mine. Alas, considering her efforts to get the ”Nicolee Ambrose: Fraudulent Fraulein” page - which both targets and mocks her - removed from Facebook, she’s likely going to blow a gasket over the fact I’m writing this…
(Uh, Yeah…this is the actual Pic of Nicolee Ambrose on the “Fraudulent Fraulein” Page)
To begin with, the “Fraudulent Fraulein” page is despicable and blindingly asinine in both its set up and execution. Let’s start with the term “Fraudulent.” Anyone who’s ever met Ms. Ambrose knows she is anything but a fraud. Further, the morons who came up with the title and theme of the page write absolutely nothing even attempting to point out anything fraudulent she’s done.
So, to the geniuses who came up with the idea, remember this: In order for a lie to be successful in this modern age, it must contain at least a kernel of truth. On that front, you’ve earned an Epic Fail.
Secondly, the creator of the “Fraudulent Fraulein” page suffers from what I call “Writers Envy,” a term I used to describe someone who has nothing to say and can’t actually write anyway…so they flail away by using big words and bewildering attempts at humor. It’s their way of making up for being brain dead as concerns their ability to convey thoughts.
Thirdly, though it doesn’t need to be said I’ll say it anyway, this page is obviously written by an Audrey Scott supporter – someone who wants Ms. Scott to emerge victorious over Ms. Ambrose in the race for National Committeewoman.
To be blunt, this Fraudulent Facebook Page needs to come down. And it needs to come down now. Seriously, the people backing Audrey Scott should know better (and does anyone really think this didn’t come from Ms. Scott’s corner?). Anyone has the right to support anyone they want, no matter how great or poor the reason…but some things are over the line, and this most definitely is one of them.
And I say that after years of having engaged in similarly nasty efforts and tactics – although, come on now kiddies, mine were more than a little believable.
So, I have to ask if Audrey Scott will demand that this Facebook page be removed. Let’s please keep the race for National Committeewoman above board and away from being so damned tawdry. Scott wouldn’t be hurt even just a little bit to say she’s sorry this fraudulent-nastiness was perpetrated and repudiate it in no uncertain terms.
If, however, Audrey Scott refuses to even so much as admit that this Facebook page exists and condemn it, well, all I can say at that point is that there’s a “Fraudulent Fraulein” in the race for National Committeewoman, alright – and that “Fraudulent Fraulein” sure as Hell ain’t Nicolee Ambrose.
To quote a status update from the “Fraudulent Fraulein” page itself: How many LIKES does it take to get to the center of the TRUTH?
